Groundwork works with businesses and other organisations to improve competitiveness while reducing environmental impact. Every year we support over 2,200 businesses in the Northwest and carry out over 500 environmental reviews. We help businesses adapt to a new greener economy and provide support to navigate legislative minefields.
Groundwork has had great success in proving that the environment is a business issue – even for the smallest business. Through the ENWORKS programme we are market leaders in the provision of environmental support to SMEs in the region.
We work in partnership with businesses to provide practical support to enable companies to reduce their negative impact on the environment while also increasing their profitability and competitiveness. That might mean an environmental audit which results in waste reduction, or helping a business adopt an accredited environmental management system.
We know that compliance with regulations is a difficult issue for small businesses so we’ve developed mechanisms to help them to keep ahead of the latest environmental and health & safety legislation.
We provide long-term support to businesses helping to drive forward improvement plans, providing appropriate technical expertise in areas such as legislative compliance, waste management, resource management, transport planning and health & safety compliance.
We also aim to integrate local businesses into the wider community and regeneration initiatives by establishing links to schools and community projects.
